Problem
Wij West, a social organization in Delft West, faced a key challenge: residents struggled to connect with local activities and communities due to a lack of centralized information and accessibility. With diverse age groups, from children to elderly residents, the solution needed to be inclusive and intuitive. Additionally, there was no efficient system to encourage participation, leading to missed opportunities for community engagement and collaboration.
Goal
The goal was to design a digital platform that simplified the discovery and participation in local clubs, events, and activities. The solution aimed to foster a stronger community spirit, reduce isolation, and provide residents with a seamless way to engage with each other and the social structures in Delft West. The design needed to be accessible and inclusive to meet the needs of a varied demographic while aligning with Wij West’s mission of building a resilient and connected society.
Action
Using the SCRUM methodology, our team of six developed a user-focused solution tailored to the community’s needs. Through research and iteration, we ensured the app was accessible and intuitive for all residents. The final design included three key tools—Home, Activities, and Map—to simplify discovering, joining, and creating events. Supporting materials like social media posts and posters promoted the platform, driving engagement and fostering a stronger Delft West community.
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
